Living in Ottawa I was spoiled. Between live music at every pub in town (with no cover) and the annual Tulip Festival I saw a whole lot of live shows. Now it's been about 16 months since I've been to any sort of concert or live performance, which is kind of sad since my company runs an arena.
The last band I did see in concert was one of the best live Canadian acts I've ever seen- Our Lady Peace at the Roxy, a venue that holds a few hundred people. It was kind of weird since I'd previously seen them about four years before that at another small venue. That time it was at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem, another small venue.
But now.. now I have tickets to see the ultimate Canadian band. No- not BTO. I've always wanted to see the Hip live, and they'll be here in March, at the Roxy. The last time they played Atlanta half the Thrashers were there and friends of mine were literally leaning on the stage.
Hopefully they play plenty of their old stuff, because I've hardly listened to a thing since Music At Work.
Yay, I'm seeing The Hip in about two weeks at the ACC in Toronto! I saw them there before, at Guelph Lake, and also at the Molson Amphitheatre on Canada Day, the latter being probably the best concert I've ever been to, hands down.
I hope they play older stuff too, cos I haven't really been keeping up either... God love 'em, but they used to put out better material :(

I've seen the hip at Maple Leaf Gardens, twice at Harbor Station, once and the Moncton COllesium and once at Woodstock 99. I think the best was Woodstock '99. They were the first act on the main stage on Sunday and Kid Rock was right after. I think most people were watching The Hip because they wanted a good spot for Kid Rock. I lost my voice soon after the show. I also saw Our Lady Peace at Woodstock '99 and they sucked. Actually, both times I saw OLP they sucked. I saw them at Harbor Station and they only played for an hour. YOu expect a bit more for a $35 ticket.
