So now that Kerry has conceded the question is who will the president keep in his cabinet come January? Powell has already said he doesn't plan to be back and I have a feeling Rumsfeld might not be Secretary of Defense when it's all said and done. Too many things have been mishandled under his watch although the administration may not want to look guilty by shifting him to another position or asking him to leave. Promoting him to Secretary of State would save face but I can't see him in that role. I expect Ashcroft and Ridge to be back if they want the jobs and most of the other spots are off of my radar. Rice as National Security Advisor could be tricky though. She's a brilliant woman and a great asset to have but her performance in front of the press over the last three years has been lacking. Consider as well that Bush will be obliged to bring some moderates and perhaps a Democrat or two into the fold to help re-unite the country after a bitter, polarized election campaign and somebody might get pushed out. Should be interesting.
