To follow up on my previous post, yesterday afternoon I got 5 cds in the mail, 4 I had ordered and 1 the good people at Radrockers threw in for free as a promotion. None of the albums are recent releases- rather they're all music from my past that I bought during a nostalgic moment that I've been listening to pretty much non-stop since I opened the package.
What are these gems?
Pushstart Wagon Squeaky Clean- My all-time favourite powerpop album. Sadly it was their only release (1996). From the late Gene Eugene's label.
poor old lu sin- a classic from it's genre, though pinning down the genre is pretty hard. Occasionally funky, always thoughtful, post Nirvana Seattle folky rock with airy vocals Maybe someone else can describe them better (1994)
poor old lu Chrono (1993-1998)- The best of poor old lu up to 1998. Very, very few bands could do a best of album that covers just 5 years that's this good. Features a guest appearance on vocals by Jeremy Enigk (1998)
L.S.U. Grace Shaker- Quite possibly the best album I have ever heard from any genre. From the creative genius that is Mike Knott, this album hits you hard every time (1994). You'll be seeing some lyrics from this one
The free album? My Friend Stephanie's Makeover. I haven't given it a good listen yet but I do remember listening to it years ago compliments of the bargain bin at Maranatha in Charlottetown.
Great music writeup thanks!

Thanks Eric. That's absolutely fantastic news. I'll be keeping an eye on things. I'm not above shamelessly plugging your new album either.

Hey Ben,
Glad you enjoyed Sqeaky Clean... FYI Pushstart Wagon has been in the studio and are almost finished with a second album. Not sure who will distribute this one, but if you check out pushstartwagon.com in a month of two we should have all the info available (The site isn't up yet)... Expect this album to have some acoustic guitars. But we can't get the powerpop out of us!
Have a great day,
Eric (bass-Pushstart Wagon)

No problem Jen. I won't be watching tonight's episode until tomorrow. My Bruins are playing the Habs on TSN, which is followed by a Flames/Avs game. Enjoy the show.

Thank you for your Joe Schmo Show updates. I had missed the last episode, and am gearing up for tonight's episode, and I yahoo!ed my way here. I work nights, but if I get moved to days I am definitely going to keep a recap log in my online journal. Such a neat idea!
